Privacy Policy

VOILE ("we", "us") is built privacy-first. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data when you use our app.

The short version

• Your wardrobe photos are processed on your device.
• Full photos of you or your clothing are never uploaded from scanning.
• Only sanitized garment cutouts and item metadata are stored in your private cloud account.
• We do not sell your data and we show no ads.

Data processed on your device only

Scanning runs neural networks locally on your phone:

• Photos you scan or pick stay in the app's private storage.
• Garment segmentation & classification results (masks, categories, colours) stay local.
• Your PIN is stored only as a salted hash. Biometric data never leaves the secure enclave — we never see or store fingerprints/Face ID data.

Data sent to the cloud, and why

• Sanitized garment patches — transparent cutouts with no person and no background — plus category hints may be sent to our backend for higher-accuracy classification and colour analysis. Results return to you; the patch may be cached temporarily by content hash to avoid re-processing identical items.
• Account data — if you sign in (e.g. phone verification), Firebase Authentication processes your phone number/email solely to authenticate you.
• Your wardrobe records — item metadata (category, colours, notes) syncs to your private Firestore account so you can restore across devices.
• Analytics events — anonymous usage events (e.g. "item saved") help us improve the product. These contain no photo content.

Third-party services

We rely on Google Cloud / Firebase (hosting, authentication, storage, database, analytics) and Google's Gemini API for optional garment enrichment, under their own security terms. Weather display uses Open-Meteo with approximate location.

What we never do

• Sell or share personal data with advertisers
• Use your photos to train public AI models
• Publish anything from your wardrobe

Deleting your data

Deleting items in the app removes them from your account. Deleting the app removes all on-device data. For full cloud-account deletion, contact us and we will erase your records within 30 days.

Children

VOILE is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
